The price was not silver or gold, but the precious blood of Jesus Christ. Scripture declares, “You were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold… but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (1 Peter 1:18–19). The cross reveals the terrible cost of our redemption—pain, rejection, suffering, and death borne by the Son of God. Yet, this costly salvation is not sold to us; it is gifted to us. “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” (Ephesians 2:8–9).
